I just read a post on Copyblogger.com titled “5 Ways an Introvert Can Build a Thriving Online Audience”.
I had to smile… This was pretty much how I felt a few years ago when I hit the “publish” button for the first time – realising that instantly the whole world would be able to read what I had to say!

Start reading about your topic/niche…
…and then read some more! This will help you overcome the fear of not knowing enough or not being good enough to write about your topic!

Use your good listening capabilities to your advantage
There are already enough people on the internet shouting out there message without ever listening to their audience! So once you actually do start writing you can be sure that you audience will listen because you understand their needs (and their language!).

Being serious can actually be a good thing
While people might say you should go and “have some more fun”… “go nuts” some how, your goal is to attract loyal readers, build trust and help your audience. If you don’t take this serious… who will??

Think you are too sensitive or too “soft”? Think again…
People don’t trust those know-it-alls! Everybody has it’s weaknesses (me too). It’s human. It’s normal. It’s believable. Being open about it will create more trust as you are not trying to hide anything in order to make you look better in the eyes of your readers!

Being alone can be helpful too
Although listening is important, eventually it will be you alone sitting in front of your computer writing something. And when you do, you must take a position.
If you’ve already spend some time alone understanding yourself, knowing what you stand for and what you believe in, taking a position will be easy.
If you want to build a trusting and meaningful relationship with your audience, it is important to first trust and know yourself!
